Calendula ‘officinalis’ |
An annual in northern climates but may winter over in very southern regions. |
This pot marigold has been designated as Herb of the Year for 2008. Petals are edible and are often added to salads, vegetable dishes and blended into butters. Used as a substitute for the more expensive saffron. Medicinally, Calendula is a healing herb often helping wounds and scars to heal. Definitely a must have for the first aid kit.
